16703 Mauretania (1907)
Life Ring Extremely rare and highly desirable life ring from the first Mauretania! Life rings prior to the first World War were often white and only occasionally had the ship's name. A bit of flaking paint and a dent here and there, but overall in great condition. Show me another! $995. |

16051 Mauretania
(1907)
Woodwork, Inkwell Stand One of the most amazing pieces I have ever seen for Mauretania. We have all seen the barrels, but here is an inkwell stand made from her decking (as we are told by the plaque mounted to the front)! Measuring 10" x 10" x 8", this heavy, well-made stand still has the original inkwell and both are in remarkable condition. A small piece is missing from the front of the stand, but this does certainly not detract from what is a very rare piece. $395. |

16131 Mauretania
(1907)
Woodwork This magnificent piece of carved woodwork comes from the first-class staircase of one of the most famous ships in history. This public area was decorated in delicately carved French walnut, carried out by the London firm of Messrs. W. Turner Lord & Co. According to archival sources, Turner Lord had a lot of trouble finding enough high quality French walnut to complete the work, the carving of which may have been carried out by the fabled Palestinian carvers supposedly imported to work on Mauretania. (Perhaps the first example of foreign outsourcing!) The pattern of berries and leaves was interspersed with cross ribbons. This piece shows the start of the repeat pattern where the cross banding delineates the start of the next section. This piece is 45" long (3' 9") and is a ½" thick solid piece of walnut. Impressively, still in its original finish after nearly 100 years! $595. |

23431 Media/Parthia
Deck Plan Cunard had great success with intermediate liners post World War I, such as the Franconia. In an attempt to repeat that success, they constructed Media and Parthia. But times and tastes had changed, and slower, smaller cargo/passenger ships just didn't really appeal any more. These ships were never very successful and were sold from the fleet while still relatively young. Dated August, 1952. Measures 22" x 9". Very good condition. $18. |

1223 Niagara Passenger JournalWhat an incredible item! A hand-written passenger journal kept during the maiden voyage of the Cunard liner Niagara from May 20 to June 3, 1848! The passenger gives each day’s latitude and longitude, daily runs, and speed. He covers the events of each day of the voyage from divine services to a passenger’s birthday. Also talks about spotting another Cunard liner, the Caledonia, while at sea. Much detail! A bit of history: To ensure its dominance on the Atlantic, the Cunard Line ordered four new ships be built. They were the Niagara, the America, the Europa, and the Canada. Niagara was launched in August of 1847, and on May 20, 1848 departed Liverpool on her maiden voyage to Boston. After many years of service for Cunard, the Niagara was sold to another line and was wrecked near South Stack, Anglesey, on June 6, 1875. Niagara was among the early Cunard record breakers and held the eastbound speed records. I guarantee you’ll never see another of these! In excellent condition. $500. |
