23824   Albert Ballin/Deutschland                 Deck Plan

Third-class plan, measuring 34" x 20½".  Five images.  Sadly, the Albert Ballin, named in honor of the former President of HAPAG, was renamed Hansa in 1935 at the insistence of the Nazi government because Ballin was Jewish.  Captured by the Soviets, she remained in service until 1981.  Some tears at folds, otherwise excellent.  Must date to before 1935!  $45.

23050   Amerika                             Deck Plan

Superb pre-war plan for the first ship to have an à la carte restaurant.  Interestingly, most of the decks are named for presidents or famous Americans except the "Kaiser Deck."  Cover first-second, and third class.  15" x 14½"  For her small size, she was well equipped and had a gymnasium.  Excellent condition.  $75.

14405   Cap Norte                          Photographs (Hamburg South America)

Superb photo of the Captain of the Cap Norte and a guest while giving a tour of the bridge in 1932.  Great detail can be seen of the engine telegraph they are standing next to.  Also included is a photo of the Cap Norte.  Both photos measure about 7" x 5".  $25.

Excellent rendering post card of the Deutschland at sea with the company name and crest over her. Unused and in excellent condition but with a small piece of tape on the back.  $12.

Excellent post card of the Deutschland in Hamburg Harbor.  Very good condition with some slight spotting on the back.  $10.

Super "scary wave" card.  This poor liner was bombed during an Allied air raid in 1945.  Sister ship to the Albert Ballin, which Hitler forced H.A.P.A.G. to rename "Hansa."  $10.

Very crisp and clear stereoview of the Deutschland's boat deck, most likely showing the royal party.  Dated 1902. Mint condition.  $25.

15472R     Graf Waldersee              Post Card

Postmarked at Cuxhaven and Chicago, July 30, 1905.  Stamp removed.  A ½" tear but a liner we see little for.  $5.

17455     Imperator                         Brochure, Pre-Maiden Voyage

Extremely rare pre-maiden voyage brochure for HAPAG's latest and greatest triumph, the Imperator.  20 pages with 24 images, including a photo of the Kaiser on the launch platform with the bottle breaking across the bow, the launch, the liner afloat for the first time, 17 (yes, 17!) interior renderings, and a double-page keyed cut-away.

"The world's largest ship embodying maximum comfort and safety for all."  Near mint.   $395.

Superb brochure for third class on HAPAG liners.  24 pages, 16 images, dated November, 1913.  Most of the illustrations are of the Imperator, including cabins, the dining room, deck scenes, etc.  Full-page fold-out color map of the United States.  All in German.  Two-inch separation at spine, some soiling to cover.  $225.

17411     Imperator                         Deck Plan

She operated as Imperator for Cunard for a mere two months before becoming Cunard's first "Queen."  Fantastic detailed first-class tissue deck plan as Cunard's Imperator.  Measures about 36" x 32".  She had large cabins, lots of private baths, and several private dining rooms, a great improvement over the liners of even the previous year.  Even the officers' quarters are shown.  Has the usual separation at the folds otherwise great condition.  $250.

Stand-up menu for a selection of "cold dishes" offered on board the Imperator on August 24, 1913.  Printed on heavy-stock paper with lots of gold.  Near mint.  Great logo at top.  $75.

Dated August 20, 1913, this is a very full list (both first and second class), and a quick look shows Mr. Harvey S. Firestone and Mr. F.W. Woolworth on board.  Lots of info about the services on board.  Back shows where attached to album page otherwise near mint. $75.

Unusual listing of the winners of various sports contests on board the Imperator on August 23 and August 25, 1913.  There were a tug-of-war, a pillow fight, a potato race, and even a water polo tournament, to name just a few.  In near-mint condition.  $55.

Extensive information about the company and its services, including a 1914 sailing schedule from January to November.  Information about the Imperator and the soon-to-enter Vaterland and mentions that a third sister ship of similar dimensions will follow soon.  Great cover art with Imperator still sporting her eagle.  Dated January 19, 1914.  Minimum first-class rates to London were $145.  Near mint.  $48.

Impressive post card of the Kaiserin Auguste Victoria with the Hamburg-Amerika house flag flying over her.  Written on and posted in Southampton on June 18, 1914, very shortly before World War I began.  In very good condition.  $15.

Unusual post card showing the Imperator standing in for the Vaterland.  Note the bridge front.  Very good condition with one bent corner and some marks on the back where this had been attached to an album.  $10.

Very rare sailing and first-class rates brochure in English.  Advertising their regular Mediterranean service and a special one-time sailing of the Deutschland to Italy.  A blurb inside is of special note:  "The precautions which have been taken in this regard make the Deutschland practically unsinkable."  16 pages.  In great condition with lots of information.  Has been folded.  Some discoloration.  $38.

Lovely silver sauce boat identical to what was used on board Imperator.  Measures 6” from handle to spout and 4” from foot to top of handle.  Nice clear logo, dated 1910.  Very good condition with some use marks and small dings.  $115.

Small silver individual tea pot.  Probably pre-WWI.  No plate loss and a few small dents.  Excellent clear logo.  Stands 4” tall.  $145.

Excellent example of the silver service used on board the H.A.P.A.G. ships.  Date not known.  Measures 7¼” from tip of handle to bottom of bowl and 1” across bowl.  Rather heavy.  $25.
