16931 Andania Passenger
List
Tourist third cabin list for her June 27, 1925, crossing from New York to
Plymouth, Cherbourg, and Hamburg. A very unusual itinerary for Cunard.
The nascent German merchant fleet has not yet recovered enough from WWI to
impede British service at their ports. In fair condition. An
inch tear on the back cover and some staining. The front cover is
creased. $12. |

32211 Aquitania Abstract of Log
An abstract of log for her Southampton to Halifax voyage of September 13,
1949, while she was on life support as a Canadian immigrant ship.
Cunard certainly let her take her time on these voyages. This one
averaged only 18.15 knots. After this voyage, she only had a little
over two months before ringing finished with engines for the last time.
Excellent condition with a slight crease on one corner. Very hard to
find anything for her post-war career. $30. |

14388 Aquitania Blotter I
love these ink blotters. Produced as colorful advertising pieces, they
were inexpensive yet effective ways of promoting the companies ships.
This striking image of Aquitania most probably dates to the 1920s.
Measures 9½ "x 4½". $35. |

32467 Aquitania Brochure
Wonderful
brochure for Cunard’s answer to Olympic. Produced around the time of
the launch, it is filled with interesting (and overwritten) text. With
a stunning cover including super graphics and Aquitania's name heavily embossed. Has
45 illustrations in 32 pages. Measures about 10" x 5¼".
Absolutely mint interiors with some dirt on cover and some separation
at spine. Designed and printed in New York on 5th Avenue. How often do
we see brochures for her pre-war period? Cunard was justifiably proud.

32165 Aquitania Brochure
I always love it when a shipping company puts out a brochure covering just
one ship. This example for Aquitania was
produced at the height of her
popularity and profitability for Cunard, this brochure is lavish.
Covering both first and second class, it is 28 pages with 25 photos,
one to a page. Some of the illustrations included are a sitting room
in the Gainsborough Suite, the Grill Room, a long view of her promenade deck
showing the elevated deck chair area (which was later removed), a
spectacular shot of her funnels, and many images of second class. Tied with a
fancy cord. Excellent condition. $185. |

21190 Aquitania Brochure
Twenty-four
pages with twenty-one renderings and photos of her building. Views
include her on the stocks, the first-class lounge, smoking room, swimming
pool, staircase, grill room, some second class interiors, and lots more!
Did you know that the original Cunard fleet could fit on the boat deck of
Aquitania? Includes a printed flyer advertising Aquitania as Britain’s
largest liner and announcing her first sailing on May 30, 1914.
Embossed covers. In excellent condition. $175. |
|

|
21005 Aquitania Brochure
Printed on
glossy paper, which makes the photos quite clear. 32 pages with 54 (!)
photos. Covers first and second class. All amazing and most not
published elsewhere, including such oddities as her motor lifeboat with
bamboo wireless mast raised, the upper bridge before it was enclosed, the
cabin-class barber shop, the cabin-class verandah café, etc. Embossed
cover with tissue endpapers. What many consider the best brochure
produced for her. Great condition with some small tears on the edge of
the cover. $195. |
|
 |
32236 Aquitania Cigarette
Case Cunard's ubiquitous celluloid cigarette box. They produced
these for all the ships in the post-war era. including the Georgic which was
strictly on austerity service. Their status as post-war souvenirs
makes me conclude that this example dates to the late 1940's. Sold in
the on-board gift shops, these only fit non-filtered smokes. Excellent
condition. Everyone loves Aquitania; so I would buy it quickly.
$125. |

32811 Aquitania Deck Plan
One of the earliest deck plans I have offered for Aquitania. Dated
March 30, 1926, from Aquitania's gravy years!
A few years later, one of the new owners of Leviathan famously remarked: "We spent $16
million on Leviathan only to discover that Aquitania is the most popular
ship on the Atlantic." Color coded tissue deck plans for her are very
popular as they frame well. Some separations at the folds that do not
affect the plan. Otherwise in very good condition. Measures
about 41" x 28". $135. |

21096 Aquitania Passenger
List First- and second-class list for her October 14, 1922, crossing

Captain Charles in command. Also on board as Chief Steward is F.V. Jones,
who survived the sinking of the Lusitania.
Excellent condition. A passenger has written on the cover that they
are listed as second class (when they were actually in first!). $45. |

Britannic, and Georgic. Amazing how quickly the new company got rid of
the old White Star liners. Excellent condition. $25. |

32932 Aquitania Spoon,
Souvenir If you like loose-leaf tea, here's the spoon to measure it
with. From her on-board gift shop. Measures 3" in length.
During the Queen Elizabeth's last years of service, it was noted by a
reporter that the vast quantities of loose wet tea leaves being dumped in
the kitchen sinks day after day was constantly clogging the plumbing so
Cunard switched to tea bags. Very good condition with no
plate loss except where it rested on the back. No damage to the enamel.
The best condition I have seen. $75. |

18197 Berengaria Passenger List First-class passenger list dated August 23, 1924. Captain Irvine in
command. Also among the crew listed is W.H. Harkness, who survived the
sinking of the Lusitania and who saved second-class passenger Miss Barbara
Anderson.
On board this list is The Prince of Wales (the future Edward VIII), later
Duke of Windsor. As a result of his being on board, the list reads
like a Who's Who of 1920's society. Among the other passengers are
Duponts, Mountbattens, Lady Diana Duff Cooper, Her Royal Highness Princesse
de Bragance (Duchess of Oporto), future murder victim and tobacco heir Z.
Smith Reynolds (and his bother and sisters), to name just a few.
Most importantly to liner buffs, however, is the presence of the former
Mrs. John Jacob Astor, Titanic survivor, now Mrs. W.K. Dick and her
children, including John Jacob VI.
An extremely full, outstanding list. One page is loose. Cover
is dirty and has a small tear at edge. $250. |

33877 Campania
Deck Plan
Outstanding fold-out tissue deck plan for this famous 19th century
Cunarder. During World War I she was converted to an aircraft carrier

sunk almost at the end of the war on November 5, 1918, after a collision
with the HMS Glorious. When unfolded, measures 24" x 19". Has full
listing of rates. Previous owner marked his cabin in crayon as well as
dating the plan to 1914 (her last year of service). Aside from that,
it is in absolutely mint condition. Would frame spectacularly.

33474 Carmania (1905)
Post Card One of those post cards that leaves me speechless!
Amazingly crisp and clear image of Carmania on fire. The cards states
it is June 2, 1912. So crisp you can actually see the fire chief just
aft of the bridge wing directing the attempts to fight the fire.
Fortunately, she survived and was returned to service in August.
Unused. In excellent condition and definitely not a common card!

if they repaired the telegraphs or if they had to be replaced.

33456 Caronia (1949) Brochure
Full-color brochure for one of Caronia's last world cruises, entitled "Following
the Summer Sun." Oddly enough, Caronia did all but two of her world
cruises "backwards," sailing eastbound rather than westbound, thus losing
time instead of gaining it as she passed through the world's time zones.
This particular cruise lasted 95 days and visited 21 ports in 15 countries
and covered 30,991 miles. Lots of color photos of her interiors and
ports of call. In good condition with some foxing and a small stain on
the back cover. Comes with the original loose large-sized deck plan so
you could choose your cabin. From the Frank Braynard collection.

33900 Caronia (1949) Brochure
These cruise brochures for Caronia's luxury long-distance cruises came in
three flavors -- small pamphlet, glossy fold-out deck plan, and magazine style
brochure. As far as I can tell, all three types were issued for all
the luxury cruises she ever undertook. The best, in my opinion, were
the brochures like this one. There are lots of on-board color photos,
and the full itinerary is printed. Aside from the previous owner's
name typed on the front cover, it's in excellent condition. From the
Frank Braynard collection. $25. |

33652 Caronia (1949) Brochure
In my opinion, this is one of the better covers done for Caronia's extensive
series of cruise brochures. She had a predictable routine which
included Mediterranean cruises as well as North Cape cruises which she was
famous for. This one is for her spring Mediterranean cruise of 1962.
In absolutely mint condition. Comes complete with original loose deck
plan. From the Frank Braynard collection. $30. |

26286 Caronia (1949) Cut Away
I love these colorful cut-aways. Whether you frame them or just take
them out and look at them, they're gorgeous and informative. Cunard
must have loved them as well because they produced them for all of Caronia's
service life. Fortunately, this is from her first years of service as
it's the Cunard White Star version and she is listed as "new."
Folds open to reveal her lovely profile by G.H. Davis, the same prolific
artist who painted the cut-away of the Queen Mary for Cunard as well as
hundreds of other renderings of liners. An extensive key covers 131
locations in the ship. Also includes several color renderings,
including one of a private suite and a cut-away of her revolutionary funnel.
Opens to 11" x 33". From the Frank Braynard Collection. Mint
condition. $75. |

Glossy pages with 14 real color photographs. Excellent condition.

26511 Caronia (1949) Deck Plan
Perhaps one of you out there can tell me why Cunard bothered to make so many
temporary plans in the post-war period, even after the ship was in service.

dated March, 1951. In excellent condition. From the Frank
Braynard Collection. $25. |

 |
33587 Caronia
(1949) Deck Plan
I like Caronia's cruise plans. Like most ships, she cruised as one
class so this plan covers the entire ship's layout. Rather extensive
for a temporary plan, there are many illustrations in black & white taken
directly from Caronia's entry-into-service brochure. Dated October,
1948, before her entry into service. Has some water staining on the
bottom third of the plan all the way through. From the Frank Braynard
Collection. $20. |

33832 Caronia (1949) Photograph
Cunard produced a sharp set of 12 photographs that could be bought on board
Caronia circa 1957. I know the dates because these images are so
clear, when you scan them, you can read the dates on the writing room
tables' calendars! This is one picture from that set of 12, showing
the observation lounge. At some point in the mid-1950's, much of the
original wicker furniture in this room was replaced with what is shown in
this shot. Who knows why as not all of it was replaced.
Excellent condition. $20. |

21379 Franconia (I) Plate, souvenir
Bone-china souvenir portrait plate for the Franconia of 1911. She was the
first British ship to not have bolted swivel chairs in her first-class
dining room. Still retaining its gold and the painted image in very good
condition. Franconia, a beautiful ship, was sadly only in service for a few
years before being lost during World War One. As such, items for her are
hard to find, especially one in this condition. $125. |

|
29644 Franconia (II) Deck
Plan This plan shows both first and second class with a great color
rendering of her in white in her cruising role. Dated August, 1933,
this was the first year she was famously painted white for cruising. This ship
has always captivated me because of her world-wide luxury cruises to
unspoiled and interesting locations, long before many of them became tourist
destinations. If you get a chance I highly recommend reading Cunard
150 Glorious Years by John Maxton-Graham. The chapter on Franconia's
world cruise is very well done in John's unique writing style. He has
a knack for making you feel almost like you were on-board yourself! Measures about 43" x 34". A few small holes where
the plan folds. Otherwise excellent. $40. |
|

 |
29447 Franconia (II) Deck
Plan Very "austere" plan that measures 24" x 9". This is dated
June, 1949, and is most likely her return to service plan. $22. |

|
29272 Franconia (II) Deck Plan
Dated November, 1950, this rare plan is quite nice. Tough to find
much for Franconia post war. She was really just hold the colors aloft
till new ships could be built for the Canadian run. The plan covers
first class and includes lots of great color photos, which we all know are quite rare for this
pre-World War 2 liner. It doesn't look like Cunard did much
redecorating. Measure about 23" x 9". In near-mint condition
with a great "centerfold" of her by Kenneth Shoesmith. $32. |

33899 Franconia (III) Pin Tray

21481 Ivernia

glass. This plate is in good condition, considering it is now over 100

almost all examples of this type of plate, but fortunately, it doesn’t
affect the ship much. Pre-WWI souvenirs for Cunard are getting tough to
find. $95. |

 |
32880 Lusitania
Memos Ten memos back and forth between Cunard, the Daily Sketch, and a
victim's relative regarding the identification of a second-class passenger
named Smith.
Apparently, Mrs. Smith saw a photo of bodies laid out in Queenstown that
was taken by a Daily Sketch photographer and was convinced that one of the
men was her lost husband. Cunard was asking the Daily Sketch for a
close-up print of the photo to compare it with one of the body photos that was
taken by Cunard's photographer.
Interesting collection as it shows what Cunard was going through to try
to help victim's families identify their loved ones. All pages are in
good condition, but the last letter from Cunard to the Smiths is torn but
the piece is still attached. Does not affect the text of the letter.

Writing Paper, Letter Written on Final Voyage
Here's your chance to own a museum-quality
item! A letter written on board the Lusitania's last aborted voyage by
second-class passenger Elsie Hardy, detailing her daily activities.
Saved from the sinking, this letter has some interesting and specific
details about the last crossing. For example, she discusses boarding the
liner, losing a piece of luggage, the location of her dining room table, her
table companions, and much, much more.
On two different types of Lusitania stationery, the letter runs seven pages.
The letter is in fair condition and has been taped back together where it
was folded. It has also separated at the seams and some of the edge is
missing, but considering what it and its owner had been through, it's
amazing that it even survives and is still legible.
According to information Miss Hardy provided later, she had a camera with
her and took some photos on board the day before the sinking. How
would you like to see those?
A transcript of the letter comes with it. Here's your chance to own
a piece of history. $1,995. |

Film, Salvaged One of the rarest items I have ever offered.
A piece of the film salvaged from her wreck site by Oceaneering in 1982.
This represents five cells from the sadly now-lost-to-time "The Carpet from
Baghdad." Despite its time on the bottom, you can still see the image
on the film. No copy of the film was known to exist until some of it
was salvaged from the wreck 27 years ago. Just imagine something so
delicate surviving so many years on the bottom. $295.

29001 Lusitania Salvaged Spoon
May 7, 1915. The great Cunard liner Lusitania
is struck by a single torpedo off the Old Head of Kinsale, Ireland. She
sinks in a mere 18 minutes with a loss of about 1,200 lives.
In 1982, a salvage firm conducted operations on the
wreck to retrieve any items of value they could find. Among the hundreds of
artifacts recovered was this spoon. On September 15, 1982, it was
discovered in the Specie Room on Orlop Deck after the salvagers cut into the
hull to recover valuables.
Although more than twenty-five years have passed since the
recovery of the artifacts, very few of the salvaged items have ever been
offered for public sale. Most are in museums or a few private collections
around the world. Here’s your chance to belong to that tiny number of ocean
liner collectors who own an item that sank with the Lusitania that
day.
These spoons were struck as a war premium (similar to
war bonds of World War II), the proceeds from their sale going to aid the
British war effort. A portrait of Britain’s Lord Kitchener is on the
handle, and despite its years on the sea floor, this spoon is in remarkable
condition. It measures 6” from handle to bowl.
Please note that only one (1) uncleaned spoon is being
offered. Among the additional photos is one that shows an identical
spoon as it looked after it had been cleaned as well as a photo
showing some of the spoons shortly after salvage. Despite the number
of spoons recovered only a few have been offered for public sale.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to own something that
sank with the ship. $850
