38880 ns Savannah China, Demi Tasse Cup and Saucer Fantastic and much-sought-after demi-tasse cup and saucer by Mayer made exclusively for the ns Savannah. Complete with her nuclear logo. |
SOLD! |
38054 ns Savannah China, Dinner Plate Very large dinner plate for the ns Savannah. Measures 10¼” in diameter. Made by Mayer and dated 4/1964. Excellent condition. $195. As a side note, when I was lucky enough to be given a private tour of the Savannah in March, 2009, I asked if I could go through the drawers of the sideboard in the dining room. I was told that there was no point, that they had long ago been emptied, but I was welcome to. At first, all I found were old salt and pepper shakers, still filled with their contents. But then I discovered a napkin and three table cloths. What made those table cloths special was that appearing on the linen was the name "ns Savannah" and the nuclear logo. The curator of the ship was flipping out at the find as was I! |
| SOLD! |
38665 ns Savannah China, Sugar Bowl Great open sugar bowl with the nuclear logo. Dates to very early in her career and is marked 2/1960. Made by Mayer China and in mint condition. Measures 3½” in diameter by 2½” tall. $175. Despite being only able to carry 65 passengers, the Savannah almost always sailed full because people wanted the novelty of being able to say that they sailed on a nuclear ship. |
|

42980 Greek Line China,
Bowl A small bowl from the tourist-class service of the Greek Line, probably from the Olympia (Regal Empress) or the Queen Anna Maria. These two Greek liners were mostly tourist class and carried only about 140 first-class passengers, the rest being tourist. The Olympia was one of the longest-serving passenger ships and was extremely popular with ocean-liner buffs when she was renamed Regal Empress. She looked almost like a min Queen Mary inside. Measures 5" across and made by Steelite. In mint condition. 2 available @ $40 ea. |
| NEW! |
42222 Greek Line China,
Bowl Nice Greek Line bowl. Measures 4¼ across and stands about 2½" tall and made by Steelite. In mint condition. One reviewer in the 1960's said that the Olympia was like "Tourist Class DeLuxe." 2 available @ $50 ea. |

42566 Greek Line China,
Coffee Cup and Saucer Lovely coffee cup and saucer in the tourist-class pattern as used on board the Olympia and Queen Anna Maria. Great Greek Line logo emblazoned on the side in blue. Plate Side plate in the tourist-class pattern from the Olympia. Measures about 6¼" across. 50% of Olympia's tourist-class cabins had private baths, which was a rarity then. | NEW! |
42873 Greek Line China,
Plate Luncheon plate in the tourist-class pattern from the Olympia. Measures about 8¼" across. Near-mint condition. Looks like it has never been used. 2 available @ $50 ea. |
| NEW! |
42130 Greek Line China,
Toothpick Holder Rarely seen toothpick holder with a Greek Line logo on the side. Stands 1¾" tall. No maker listed, but probably Steelite. My favorite ship reviewer from the 1950's said Olympia was "geared for the traveler-on-a-budget -- a streamlined, money-saving offering." He liked her but said her food was not as good as her Dutch tourist-class competition. Mint. 2 available @ $40 ea. |
|
30779 Greek Line Coaster Absolutely mint coaster with a fantastic rendering of Olympia's funnel. Measures a little over 3" in diameter. A quantity available @ $2 ea. |

35797 Sagafjord Deck Plan It's interesting to me how much Sagafjord took her styling cues from the Doria and Colombo. Deck plan covers the entire passenger accommodation. 15 color images. Judging by the photos, this very likely dates to the 1960's. Measures 18" x 16". Mint. $25. |

35220 Orient Overseas Line Brochure "The Leisure Line." Pacific Steam Navigation Company
| SOLD! |
43771 Reina del Pacifico
Brochure Fantastic return-to-post-war service 12-page brochure for the Reina del Pacifico. What makes this brochure so amazing is that it is printed on glossy paper in full color. Covers mostly first class (there are 12 color images for this), and there are three photos of cabin class at the back in black and white. Nicely produced spiderweb-covered tissue end papers start this brochure off. There is slight damage on almost every photo (some photos are a bit worse than others). I think these flaws may have happened in manufacture because of the way it looks. Doesn't really detract, and I didn't notice it the first time I looked through the brochure. Otherwise mint. This is the only color brochure that I have seen for her. $65. |
| SOLD! |
43118 Reina del Pacifico
Brochure Superb pre-war and near-mint brochure for the "Queen of the Pacific." Dates to about 1932 and includes 23 images of both first and second class. Printed on glossy paper so the photos are very clear. This fine liner was built by Harland and Wolf and was one of the last to come out for the Pacific Line before the entire Royal Mail group fell into spectacular bankruptcy. She is listed as "new." $125. |
Polish Ocean Lines
|
35715 Stefan Batory
Brochure Rarely seen brochure for this most-popular of liners. She was built as the Maasdam for Holland America in 1952 and was sold to Polish Ocean Lines in 1968. She had a very loyal following. Her last sailing for Polish Ocean Lines was in 1988. 32 pages with 73 images, most in full-color. One of the best brochures done for her. Dates to the earliest days of her Polish service. Absolutely mint. The best you'll see for her. $85. |
|

|
|

| NEW! |
38556 Belgenland
Deck Plan Tourist third cabin deck plan for the Belgenland. Dates to the late 1920’s or early 1930’s because of the style of the plan. 16 photos showcasing Belgenland’s close family resemblance to Olympic and Titanic right down to the floor tiles. Some separations at folds. Measures 31” x 18” when unfolded. $95. |
| SOLD! |
38977 Red Star Line Brochure Beautiful brochure dated 1926 for Red Star’s ships and services. Did you know that the Belgenland had 31 suites and the Lapland had 18? I’d love to know their criteria for a suite! 32 pages with lots of photos, many full page, with a particular emphasis on their flagship Belgenland. Arguably the best brochure for this company at their height. Having been built by Harland & Wolff at around the same time, the Belgenland in particular shows quite the family resemblance to Olympic and Titanic. Lots of the same fittings and furniture. Belgenland’s smoking room fireplace, for example, is reminiscent of what was going to be installed on White Star’s Britannic of 1914. The linoleum tiles on the walls of her gym are another example, identical to those used on White Star ships. The text for the cafe image states "Here one notes an absence of convention reminiscent of the continent." Excellent condition. $195. |
|
38792 Red Star Line China, Tea Pot Amazing bone-china individual tea pot in a Red Star pattern I haven’t had before. Measures 6½” from handle to spout and stands 4” tall. Absolutely mint with the Red Star name on the bottom. A lovely item! $295. |
|
| NEW! |
38961 Red Star Line China, Salad Dish Crescent-shaped salad dish in the well-known delft pattern, made famous by its use in second-class on Titanic. There might have been some IMM cost savings involved in ordering china and silver for Red and White Star as they used many of the same patterns. Mint condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Measures 8¼” across. Made by Mintons with Red Star Line on the back. $295. As an aside, this shape of china is sometimes referred to as a "bone dish." I have seen archivals showing these in use as salad dishes on several different lines. I am confident this type of china was used for salad and not for bones. |
| NEW! |
38572 Red Star Line China, Soup Bowl Soup bowl in the delft pattern as used on board the Belgenland. Made by Mintons and back stamped Red Star Line. Date of May, 1929, impressed in the clay. 9½” in diameter. Has the usual utensil marks and some slight manufacturing flaws. No chips, cracks, or crazing. $225. |
| SOLD! |
38223 Red Star Line Crystal, Cordial Lovely crystal cordial emblazoned with the Red Star logo on the front. Stands just under 3¾” tall. No cracks but the tiniest of flea bits (almost invisible) on the stem. $125. |
| NEW! |
38434 Red Star Line Menu Farewell dinner menu from the Lapland of Titanic fame. Dated July 19, 1929, this menu is in excellent condition. Signed by several passengers who shared a table. Shows where attached to an album page on the back. $10. |
| NEW! |
38244 Red Star Line Silver, Fork Fork measuring 7” in length and produced by Elkington. Looks like they are all dated 1923, but I can’t be sure due to the use wear on the date codes. A quantity available. @ $25 each. |
| NEW! |
38668 Red Star Line Silver, Serving Fork and Knife Amazing Elkington silver serving fork and knife probably used on the Belgenland because they are date coded to 1923 which is when she entered service for Red Star. In excellent condition with the slightest signs of use. Knife measures 12½”, and the fork is 10½”. Few large pieces of Red Star silver ever turn up. A great opportunity. $295. |
| NEW! |
38387 Red Star Line Silver, Spoon Demi-tasse spoon made by Elkington for Red Star. This is dated 1927 and is in very good condition. A must have if you own a Red Star cup and saucer. $60. |
| NEW! |
43922 Alcantara
Brochure Wonderful fold-open brochure for the Alcantara, which shows how lovely her interiors were. There are 18 full-color photos of her interiors. She is sporting one funnel so dates to her post war years. Measures 28" x 26½" when open. Has some tearing at the folds, but this does not affect the photos. $75. |
| NEW! |
43385 Alcantara / Asturias / Almanzora / Andes /
Arlanza
Brochure Dating to 1927 and Alcantara's entry into service. This brochure covers first and second class and sports a four-page insert in full color. Running 24 pages with a full photo per page. Alcantara had a storied history, having been re-engined while still quite new. Diesel propulsion was cutting edge in 1927, and the technology was such that Alcantara never lived up to her speed requirements of 18 knots. In fact, 16 knots was about the best attained. This would never do in order to keep to schedules; so reluctantly Royal Mail spent the huge sums to drop a new set of turbines into her only seven years later. She was also involved in a wartime collision with Cunard's Franconia and battled the German auxiliary Thor in the South Atlantic. She went on after the war to resume her normal peace-time service. In excellent condition, and I might add, a line we see very little for. $175. |
| NEW! |
43218 Alcantara / Asturias / Almanzora / Highland
Brochure Royal Mail, in my mind, is known for two things: The first is their spectacular rise to prominence, followed almost inevitably by an even-more-spectacular crash and bankruptcy. The second claim to fame was the stunning artwork created in the 1920's and 1930's as advertising for the line by famed artist Kenneth Shoesmith. Shoesmith had a distinctively pleasing style, and that is readily apparent in the cover he produced for this brochure. Dated July, 1938, and huge at 36 pages long. More photos than I can count, including both interiors and extiors. Very crisp shots that would scan well. In very good condition with a couple of travel agency stamps and some slight scuffing to the cover. $195. |
| SOLD! |
43555 Andes
Brochure The Andes was, according to Royal Mail biographer Stuart Nicol, the largest and fastest ship the South American trade could support. She was, of course, Royal Mail's flagship at 21 knots and 25,000 tons. 16 pages with each page alternating with a full-color photo or etching of life onboard. Text in French. The Andes had mind-blowingly great art deco interiors in the best British ocean-liner style. Dated June, 1957, which is just a few years before she stopped making mail voyages to South America. By 1960 she would cruise full time. This beloved liner had a long and very successful life ending her service in 1971. In very good condition. $150. |
| NEW! |
43888 Royal Mail Line
Brochure Mint-condition brochure for Royal Mail's short lived Atlantic services to New York. It seems with the major depression that shipping was facing after the end of mass emigration Lord Kylsant as head of Royal Mail was casting around for new uses for his ships which were suddenly losing money on their traditional routes. Thus was born the Royal Mail cabin service to New York in 1923. This service was handed to White Star after the Royal Mail takeover in 1927. White Star was also forced to purchase the Royal Mail liners Ohio and Orca which were used on the New York run. They were renamed Albertic and Calgaric and promptly transferred to White Star's Canadian service. Dated September, 1924, this 24-page brochure has full-sized photos found on nearly every page. Many of the photos are stunners, showing life on board, and would scan very well. Never seen another brochure like this before. $125. |
| NEW! |
43396 Royal Mail Line
Brochure Rarely seen foldout brochure for second-class service on the "A" class vessels. Ships covered are the Alcantara, Asturias, Almanzora, and Arlanza. Interestingly this brochure is in four languages English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. 11 photos of the ships and their interiors. Measures about 26" x 17". Most likely dates to the late 1920's as the Alcantara still has her squat motor ship stacks. More great Shoesmith art. In very good condition with only slight tears to the folds. $85. |
| NEW! |
43052 Royal Mail Line
Brochure Fantastic first-class foldout brochure for the Royal Mail "Highland vessels" South American service. 11 photos of the ships interiors. In four languages English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Features more art by Shoesmith. Two panels completely torn about 6" and long ago taped back together. Otherwise very good condition. As is. $40. |
Woermann Line
|
35989 Tanganjika
Hat Ribbon Silk hat band from the short lived Woermann liner Tanganjika. In service to the former German colonies in east Africa from 1936 to 1939, she later served as a German accommodation ship before being bombed and sunk in Wilhelmshaven in 1943. Very rare souvenir from a short-lived ship. Measures 33" long. In excellent condition. $35. |
