full for many years averaging about 100,000 passengers a year between them. Great brochure for

during the maiden voyage of the United States, now you know! She left
Bremerhaven on June 30 and then departed Southampton on July 2 so she must
have passed the United States at some point during the crossing to New York.

Tourist third cabin plan for the ss George Washington. Opens to about 28” x
22”. Built in 1908 for North German Lloyd, she was interred at the
beginning of World War I and taken over when the
US
entered the war. She was scrapped in 1951. Great condition with one slight

brochure devoted exclusively to the Leviathan. 27 photos with mostly
amazing full-page interior views. Mostly first class, there are a few
views in second class. Some of the more unusual photos include the
breakfast room of one of the "Premier" suites, the Tea Room, a corner of the
Winter Garden, the second-class lobby, and many more. Fleet list at
the back. The liner's name is taken straight from the Bible as
suggested by President Wilson. One of the comprehensive brochures

What a great ship! This plan has seven full-color overhead views of several
different stateroom categories (USL loved to do those overhead views, huh?
They kept them up till the 60's.) and 25 images total. Dates to June, 1934,
and unfolds to 30” x 18”. This plan is in the pattern used by IMM from
1929 on. Some separation at the folds but otherwise great shape.
A fantastic plan that words don't due justice to. Buy it, you will not

it’s quite large. Color coded and detailed right down to the deck chair

early ships in the USL, she was captured German stock. A few separations at

accommodations on board the United States. Printed on glossy paper,
this plan shows the added Writing Room and Library which were taken from
first class around 1960 to increase the number of third-class public rooms.
In looking at the plan, I realized that none of her third-class cabins had
bathrooms, only sinks. Some scuffing to cover otherwise excellent condition.

their occupancy rate was 72% versus 59% for the Normandie in her inaugural

Absolutely massive
color-coded deck plan for first class and tourist on the Manhattan and
Washington. When opened measures about 35” x 24”. Dated August, 1940.
Opens like a brochure so that you can leaf through it. About 50 photos and
illustrations, some in color, of the ship and the ports. Advertising
various cruises. Because of the war, the Atlantic service had been
discontinued. On the back is an advertisement for the America, “our new
Queen of the Seas.” The ships, it seems, were nearly identical on the
upper decks. Below on C, D, and E decks there were many changes with
Washington having much larger cabins. Very good condition with the usual separations at one
of the folds. $195. |

cabin blanket made by Horner for use in the cabins on board the ss United
States. All the blankets I have seen are dated, some 1960, 1959, 1957, but
happily this one is 1952, which is obviously the best date! Getting hard to
find with this date. Measures about 76” x 54”. Excellent condition with a
couple of small stains as seen in the last photo. They all have these
stains which I think is a result of their long time spent in storage on the

"Popular trips on cargo ships." Fold-out brochure for the
cargo/passenger services of the United States Lines. Has deck plans
for each class of ship and full general information, including the cost to
ship a car. The C-2 ships had a dining room that doubled as a lounge
and only four cabins, two of which were singles for males only. The Mariner
ships were slightly nicer and had a lounge and a dining room. Dates to post-1964 but pre-1969.
I understand that passengers being carried on cargo ships is now a declining
trend. Excellent condition. $25. |
